Rasheeda Cooper - Treasurer

Rasheeda was born in Australia and lived in India for two years, spending time with the urban poor there. Her experience of travel and working with Muslim communities in other countries has been an important contribution to the Council. Rasheeda is self employed as a piano and early childhood music teacher. She plays drums in the traditions of Indian, Middle Eastern and African cultures. Rasheeda is also the Founding Director of the Melbourne Muslim Music Festival. Rasheeda has been on the Committee of Management since 2000 and has been the Council’s Treasurer for the past two years. Importantly, she brings her passion for social justice and Islam as an empowering resource for women, to all the tasks she undertakes.
