SILC – Organisational Development (OD) Programme
The SILC (Self-esteem, Identity, Leadership and Community) programme has been running workshops with Muslim women in Victoria with the overall goal of a) increasing their self-awareness and confidence; b) building their leadership skills and capacity to understand and address women’s empowerment and wellbeing issues and c) increasing their participation in the community.
Women’s response to the SILC workshops has been overwhelmingly positive. Through the new SILC Organisational Development Programme, we aim to take our workshops one step further to include:
• work with national Muslim women’s organisations in order to support them in addressing and representing the experiencing, needs, diversity and position of the Muslim women they work with in more meaningful and effective ways, from a community-based and empowerment-focussed perspective.
Further, SILC-OD seeks to specifically support these organisations in:
• Understanding and working with a community-based and empowerment-focussed approach
• Developing more effective ways of analysing and representing community issues
• Enhancing their skills in organisational and project development and strategic planning
• Developing themselves as a professional and strong voice in the NGO sector
