AYDILL

“Aydill”: a life skills project for children

Aydill is a group-work and capacity-building project, aiming to improve Muslim and non-Muslim children’s (both primary and secondary level) life skills and socio-emotional emotional development in order to ensure resilience and successful social and cultural integration.

The project is based on the approach that safe and nurturing opportunities for gaining self- and social awareness and learning life skills, contributes significantly towards the development of positive attitudes towards oneself and society. In turn, these attitudes make way for healthy community relationships; mutual understanding, and respect;  constructive social behaviour; integration and, ultimately, peace.

Using age-appropriate interactive and group-work activities, the project covers the following areas:

• Self-awareness and self-esteem
• Emotional management
• Compassion and empathy
• Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Diversity and tolerance
• Stereotyping and prejudice
• Rights and responsibilities
• Social issues (conflict, violence, discrimination and violence)

The target groups for the project are:

• Primary school children
• Secondary school children
• Parents
• Teachers
